Mrs. Bertha T. Schmidt, a former Edwardsville resident, who suffered a broken hip in a fall Oct. 13, died Sunday at St. Joseph hospital, Highland. She and her husband, Carl H. Schmidt, had made their home with a nephew and wife, Mr. and Mrs. John Schmidt in Alhambra. After her husband's death Feb. 20, 1949, she continued to live there until about six months ago, when she moved to the Ramsey nursing home.
She was born in Ft. Russell township, the daughter of the late Bernhart and Josepha Theresa Klaus, and had attained the age of 95 years, 9 months and 29 days.
One son, Edward, and two daughters Josepha Theresa and Mary Sophia, preceded her in death.
Friends may call at the Dauderman funeral home in Alhambra after 5 p.m. Monday until 11 a.m. Tuesday when the body will be brought to the Schneider funeral home in Edwardsville for services at 2 p.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Guy Moyer, pastor of Salem Evangelical church at Alhambra, will officiate.
Interment will be in Woodlawn cemetery, Edwardsville.
