Abel Statton.

Abel Statton, for many years a resident of Rote, died on Friday morning at 1 o'clock, after a long illness from cancer, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. H.A. Tressler, of Nittany, with whom he had made his home for the past ten years. He was 96 years of age. Deceased was born in Cornwall, England, and came to this country at an early age, residing in this section all his life. He was a veteran of the Civil war, serving for three years in the Union army. For many years he was a railroader. He was a member of the United Evangelical church. In addition to his daughter, he is survived by one son, residing in the west, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted at the Tressler home Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock by Rev. J.W. Thompson. Interment was made in Cedar Hill cemetery.
