Ethel Lucy Libby, daughter of Leroy
Woodbury and Abbie Ellen Libby, was
born November 29, 1878 in Marysville,
Kansas and passed away at her home in
Kansas City, January 22, 1957 at the age
of 78 years 1 month and 24 days.
On July 7, 1903 in Marysville, Kansas she
was united in marriage to Joseph Stuart
Davis, Frankfort, Kansas. Five daughters
and two sons were born to this union, six
of whom survive, Mrs. Hazel Miller of
Cedar Hill, Missouri, Mrs. Norma Harper,
Roanoke, Virginia, Mrs. Maida Bridges, Rio
De Janiero, Brazil, Mrs. Carol Oakley,
Albuquerque, New Mexico, Robert L. Davis,
Winifred, Kansas, and Joseph Leroy Davis,
El Paso,Texas. One daughter, Ethel Josephine
Davis died in infancy. She also leaves 12
grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Her husband also survives and two sisters
and one brother, Mrs. Carl Belknap, of
Marysville, Kansas, Mrs. James Bailey, of
Carthage, Texas and Roy A. Libby, Kansas
City, Missouri.
The family resided in Frankfort until 1925
at which time they moved to Kansas City
where they have lived for 31 years.
When in Frankfort, Mrs. Davis was active in
the Order of the Eastern Star and served as
Worthy Matron a one time. She was active
member of the First Presbyterian Church
where the funeral services were held on
January 25, 1957.
Burial was in the Frankfort Cemetery,
Frankfort, Kansas.
Pallbearers were O.L. Dalton, Lawrence
Pennington, J.J. Harper, Gordon Oakley,
Forrest Miller and William Daikers.
