Obituary of Catherine E. (Fulton) Buttrum, widow of James B. "Jim" Buttrum - Crossville Chronicle October 17, 1935

"Mrs Catherine Buttrum died at the home of her daughter, Mrs Ben Norris [Eva Della], Sunday morning, October 12 after 4 weeks illness of heart and kidney trouble. She was 84 years old. Aside from Mrs Norris, she leaves 2 daughters and 3 sons. She was buried at Haley's Grove cemetery. She was a member of the Baptist church. Her son, Joe Buttrum of Monterey, with his wife and 2 sons and daughter, spent Monday with Mrs Norris and attended the funeral."

Catharine was the daughter of Tabitha C. and David Fulton of Fentress and Putnam Counties, Tennessee. She became the second wife of James B. "Jim" Buttrum about 1880 and together they had six children. Jim died between 1895-1900 but just where he died and his place of burial are unknown. The widowed Catharine spent most of her last years with her son Joe Buttram in Putnam County but was a resident of the Alms House in White County for a while prior to her death.

Catharine had a daughter named Ermon Elizabeth Fulton prior to marriage to Jim.
