Mildred E. Leslie, 90, Hayward, died Thursday, June 7 at the Hayward Nursing Home.

Mildred Emma Lewis was born August 10, 1910 in Dickey, ND, the daughter of Otis and Emma (Ridgeway) Lewis. She graduated from Hayward High School. She was joined in marriage to George Leslie on May 24, 1941 in Hayward. Together they ran Leslie’s Landing on Nelson Lake and she operated the Twins Tavern on Main Street of Hayward. She also worked as a secretary for Shuman Insurance Agency in Hayward. She enjoyed reading, knitting, and most of all, spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by one son, George Leslie, Hayward; one daughter, Cheryl (Bob) Cleary, Cable; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Jean Lewis, Hayward; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George; three sisters; and two brothers.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 11 at the St. Ann Catholic Church in Cable with Father Bill Green officiating. Visitation time was held from 10-11 a.m. on Monday at the church in Cable. A private interment will be held at a later time in the Greenwood Cemetery in Hayward.

The Koerpel Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
