LeBarre, Melvin Currie
Melvin was born to Hubert and Vera LeBarre May 21, 1930 on their farm 1/2 mile south of Silver Park. The family moved to a farm west of Pleasantdale, where Melvin took over the farm in 1953 when his parents retired to Pleasantdale.
He married Gwen Jessup November 07, 1952, having met her when her Mother Mrs. Eva Jessup came to teach at Windigo School, the School where Melvin attended.
Windigo School was the social centre in those days, with dances, card parties, showers and the annual Christmas concert. Melvin played with Margaret Coyle, Fred Rogers, Fred Cole and Gwen and others for music at the Christmas concerts.
Melvin's father played the violin and had taught Melvin to play and with Gwen playing the piano, music became a major part of the family. Their sons Bruce and Brian and daughter Valerie, were members of the Kager orchestra.
They also had daughters Kathy plus JoAnne who died in 1987 and is buried in this cemetery.

Melvin worked for International Trucks in Saskatoon for two winters in the late sixties, when it was very dry and they had no crop to speak of. Gwen and the children did the chores and kept things going until he got home on weekends.
The family made it through tough times and with their musical talents, they kept their spirits up and made life enjoyable.
Melvin and Gwen will be much missed in the community.
