In his will, dated 19 April 1807 and probated 22 June 1807, at Staunton, James names his wife, Jean, and twelve children: John, James, Samuel, George, William, Elijah, Robert, Sarah, Betsey, Agnes, Jane and Mary, wife of. John McGill. This James Craig, along with his brother William, inherited that portion of their father's estate which lay between the forks of Middle and North Rivers. He lived on the northwest side of the said stream a short distance below Mount Meridian (Wm. F. Boogher, Gleanings of Virginia History)
Jean's will dated 19 Nov 1816, and proved on 27 Jan 1817, names only the following : daughter Mary Magill, daughters Elizabeth and Jane, daughter Nancy Hamilton, son Robert Craig (called into the service), Jean Craig (under age 20), daughter Sarah Hamilton, and son Elijah Craig. Executors were sons Elijah Craig and James Craig. Witnesses were James Stewart, James Craig Sr., and William Craig. (Chalkley's Chronicles) She probably rests next to her husband but many of the older gravestones are missing.
