She was my great-grandmother. Her mother sent her to live with her brother, George Fraughton, and his family. When she was five years old, they moved to Utah as pioneers of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She walked most of the way from New York to Utah...much of it barefoot. They arrived on August 3, 1854, one month before her 6th birthday.

She married James Nash on January 4, 1865 in Heber, Utah. They had fifteen children.

She and James helped in the construction of the Salt Lake LDS Temple. When the foundation was finished, the Saints held a celebration dance and she is said to have danced with the Prophet Brigham Young and James danced with each of the prophet's wives.

The prophet sent them to the Cannonville area to settle it and they gave up a prosperous farm to do so. They and their posterity were given a special blessing by President Young for doing so.

She passed away when my grandfather, her son, was on his mission to the Southern states. My Mom always regretted not having had the opportunity to know her. When Mom died, some of us had the same thought--now she finally gets to meet her Grandma Nash!
