Kathryn L. Kerr, 95, of Rochester, passed away on Monday, November 12, 2012 at Ahlstrom's L'Amour et L'Abri where she had been living since September 20th.

Kathryn Louise Waste was born June 28, 1917 in Plainview, MN to John Pratt Waste, Jr. and Frances Elizabeth (Hall) Waste. After graduating from Plainview High School, she moved to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

On February 5, 1939, she married Curtis Leroy Kerr at Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, in Oklahoma City. The couple made their home in Oklahoma City until moving to Rochester in 1958.

Kathryn worked at the Rochester State Hospital in several positions until her retirement in 1981. Prior to working at the Rochester State Hospital, she was a homemaker and a day care provider. After her retirement, she moved to Reads Landing, MN, where she was active at St. Felix Catholic Church of Wabasha.

Kathryn was a faith filled woman who was devoted to her family. Music, playing bridge, fishing, and gardening were among her many interests. She had a special knack for knowing what people needed and quietly taking care of it.

She is survived by four daughters, Anne Marie Carlson of Princeton, MN, Susan Kay (Mike) Schroeder of Naperville, IL, Mary Jeane (Chuck) Dery, and Margret Ann (Dan) Ryan of Rochester. She also is survived by nine grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many wonderful friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, 3 brothers and 3 sisters, and a son-in law, Randy Carlson.

The family would like to thank Darlene and Don Ahlstrom for sharing their loving care and support.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, November 16, 2012 at Pax Christi Catholic Church with the Rev. Msgr. Donald P. Schmitz officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm Thursday, November 15, 2012 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home and one hour prior to the Mass on Friday. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Pallbearers are her six grandsons, Brad Schroeder, Mark Carlson, Charlie Dery, Jeff Schroeder, David Ryan, and Matthew Dery.

The family prefers memorials to the Lourdes High School Music Department, the Children's Tumor Foundation or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
