Colene Nadine Martin, 75, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa and formerly of Novinger, Missouri died on Sunday, September 24, 2006 at Trinity Pathway Hospice in Bettendorf.
Her funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, September 28, 2006 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel, Bettendorf. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Pathway Hospice or Genesis Hospice.
She was born October 1, 1930 in Mercer, Missouri, the 5th of 10 children to Willie & Blanche (Ragan) Glines. On May 1, 1948, she was united in marriage to Estil Edison Martin in Bettendorf. He preceded her in death on March 16, 2000.
Prior to her marriage, she worked at the former Crescent Cookie Company in Davenport.
Colene enjoyed crocheting, eating out, family gatherings and taking care of her lawn. She was a "sweetaholic" and enjoyed making pies, plum dumplings, cakes and many other sweet treats for her family. Her chicken and homemade noodles were the best ever.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughter, Karen Wood of Davenport; her sons, Dan (Susie) Martin of Bettendorf and Dennis (Jodi) Martin of Taylor Ridge, Illinois; eleven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; her sister, Vivian Goff of Bettendorf; and her brother, Ray Glines of Davenport.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Donny on August 4, 2000; and her brother, Elmer Glines on July 15, 2006
