Obituary: Buffalo Evening News, December 28, 2002
Allen, New York - Russell C. Addeo, 81 of 8501 West Hill Road, Town of Allen, died Tuesday December 24, 2002 at Jones Memorial Hospital, Wellsville, New York following a lengthy illness.
Born February 17, 1921 in Angola, New York, he was the son of Frank and Vita Cannistraci Addeo. In November 1942 he married the former Louise Alli. On March 5, 1987 in Buffalo, he married the former Rose Hetherington Staebell, who survives.
A resident of Angola most of his life, Mr. Addeo attended the Angola School District.
During World War II, he served aboard PT boats and saw combat action in the Pacific Theater.
Mr. Addeo began employment in 1943 at the Chevrolet plant in Tonawanda, New York where he was a tool repairman until retiring in 1974.
He attended St. Patrick's Church in Belfast, New York and was a member of the Olean Senior Citizens and Robert C. Howden American Legion Post 1504 in Belfast, New York
Mr. Addeo was a avid hunter and enjoyed raising pheasants, pigeons and polish chickens.
Surviving besides his wife are a son Frank (Rosemary) Addeo of Lancaster, a daughter Phyllis (Gary) Refermat of North Tonawanda, grandchildren Charles (Charlotte) Dickey, Joseph (Dawn) Milligan, James (Wendy) Dickey, Kim Sustiata, Anne Marie Miller, Scott (Melissa) Addeo, Robert (Antoinette) Addeo and Andrea Addeo. great-grandchildren Kirsten Dickey, Michael Dickey, Crystal Dickey, Lauren Dickey, Christina Dickey, Alexander Addeo, Taylor Addeo, Trevor Addeo, Klarice Addeo and Sheena Urbaniak, three sisters Katherine (late Tony) Pinto of Tonawanda, Josephine (late Richard) Tonder of Derby and Nella (late Donald) Guthrie of St. Petersburg, FL also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister Yvonne (James) Carsello and a brother Sam (late Mary) Addeo.
There will be no visitation. A Memorial Mass will be held in the St. Patrick's Church, Belfast at a date and time announced. The Rev. Michael Juran, pastor, will be celebrant.
Memorials may be made to the Belfast Rescue Squad.
Arrangements are under direction of the Treusdall Funeral Home, Belfast.
