Christian was an immigrant from Hesse, Germany, who settled in Louisville, Kentucky. His first marriage was to Amelia (Emelie) Sehr in Louisville on 28 Sept. 1858. His second was to widow Henriette Schmidt Eichert just two years later. He and Henriette had three daughters, all born in Louisville: Jeanette (called Nettie, 1861-1943); Arabelle (1865-after 1880); and Isabelle (called Mary Agnes, 1865-1931). Christian was a dealer in leather goods and his name and occupation can be found in the City Directory of Lousiville in the 1860s. He died in Bullitt County, KY, and is buried in Louisville's Cave Hill Cemetery. He may be related to some of the many Biehls buried in Berg Cemetery, just outside Marietta, Ohio.
