Daughter of Theophilus Hardy and Abigail Gilpatrick, she married widower Joseph Foster Gibbs in 1846 and was widowed herself in November 1847.
She married for the second time in 1850 to the widower Reverend Francis Horton, a Congregational Trinitarian minister.
Widowed for a second time, she was in San Francisco when she died November 12, 1879 and is buried in Lone Mountain Cemetery there.
