He was born November 11, 1947 in Mannington, Marion County, WV the son of the late William C. Rice and Betty J. Hayhurst Rice who survives.
Jerry was a 1968 graduate of the Jefferson Union High School and served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War Era and was retired from the Valley Converting Paper Mill in Toronto.
He was preceded in death by his father, his wife – Mary A. Martin Rice whom he married July 14, 1980 and a brother Michael Rice in 1977.
Jerry's survivors are his mother – Betty J. Hayhurst Rice of Toronto, OH; daughters – Deanna Rice of Richmond, OH and Kara Rice and companion Ryan Wickham of Toronto, OH; son – Christopher (Misty) Rice of Toronto, OH; sisters – Judy (William) Orr of Irondale, OH, Carol (Robert) Henthorn of Wellsville, OH, Pamela (Danny) Channels of Toronto, OH and Betty (Richard) Brandt of Steubenville, OH; brothers – Daniel (Betty) Rice, John (Joyce) Rice, James (Monica) Rice, Gary Rice and Robert (Terry) Rice all of Toronto, OH.
grandchildren – Shawna Rice; Devin and Sierra Murphy; Donavan Brooks; Preston and Brendon Rice; Dylan, Christopher and Taylor Rice; great- grandchildren – Tianna and Ellyana Murphy.
A celebration service of Jerry's life will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday – November 16th at the funeral home with Pastor Chad Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at the Sugar Grove Union Cemetery – County Road 68 – Toronto where there will be full military graveside honors by the Toronto American Legion
