Memorial services for Opal Jeanette Cooper Kenney, 79, of Leslie, are at 4 p.m., Sunday, August 16, 2009 at Allen & Allen Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Willie Jones will officiate. Mrs. Kenney died Aug. 14 at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center in Americus. Born Aug. 23, 1929, in Brooks County, she was the daughter of the late Hurtice and Carrie Lee Croft Cooper. On Nov. 3, 1959, in Pensacola, Fla., she married Bernice Brunson Kenney, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Kenney was a homemaker and was of the Methodist faith. Survivors include daughters, Debi Holloway and husband, Jeffrey of Leslie, Melissa Griffin and Terry Hayes of North Berwick, Maine, Deborah StCyr and James of Tampa, Fla. and Nellie Coker of Montgomery, Ala.; 13 grandchildren; numerous great and great great-grandchildren; honorable grandchildren, Summer and Christopher Gravbelle of Thomasville, Stephen Brunson Kenney of Leslie, Russell Tyler Weldon and Katie Butler of Thomasville, Christina Johnson of Thomasville, Robert Dock Griffin, Jr. of Thomasville and Jacob Holloway of Leslie; honorable great-grandchildren, Heather Maykae and Christopher Alan, Jr. of Thomasville and Keysean Robinson of Thomasville; brother, Ronald Cooper of Adel; sister, Geneva McCollum of Dunwoody.
