Carrie Lee Wilkinson was born December 22, 1898 in Tioga, Texas (Grayson County), daughter of Robert Lon Wilkinson and Dora Belle Qualls.

The 1910 Federal Census for Municipal, Oklahoma (Bryan County) shows Carrie Wilkinson, age 11, born in Texas; living with her father, Robert L Wilkinson, a farmer, age 42, born in Tennessee; and her mother, Dora B., age 38, born in Tennessee. Also living in the household were Carrie's siblings: Andrew M. Wilkinson, a farm laborer, age 20; Dallas Wilkinson, age 18, a farm laborer; Edgar Wilkinson, age 16, a farm laborer; and Luther Wilkinson, age 14, a farm laborer; all born in Texas except Andrew who was born in Arkansas.

On November 24, 1916 in Durant, Oklahoma (Bryan County), Carrie married Thomas Franklin Powell, who was born September 13, 1887 in Celeste, Texas (Hunt County), son of Franklin Pierce Powell (1853-1920) and Susan Emiline Smith (1860-1889).

Carrie and Thomas would have four known children: Leo Mack Powell (1919-1983); Tommye Geraldine Powell (1922-1981); Dora Christine Powell (1925- ); and Michael Ellis Powell ( - ).

The 1920 Federal Census for Durant, Oklahoma (Bryan County) shows Carrie Powell, age 21, born in Texas; and her husband, Thomas Powell, worked in barber shop, age 21, born in Texas. Living with them was one child: Leo Mack Powell, age 3 months, born in Texas.

The 1930 Federal Census for Durant Ward 1, Oklahoma (Bryan County) shows Carrie Powell, age 31, born in Texas; and her husband, Thomas Powell, mechanic in a machine shop, age 40, born in Texas. Living with them were three children: Leo Powell, age 10, born in Oklahoma; Tommie G. Powell, age 7, born in Oklahoma; and Dora R. Powell, age 5, born in Oklahoma.

Carrie's husband, Thomas, died July 4, 1939 in Durant, Oklahoma (Bryan County) and was buried there in the Highland Cemetery.

The 1940 Federal Census for Durant, Oklahoma (Bryan County) shows Carrie Powell, a widow, age 41, born in Texas; and her four children: Mack Powell, a minister, age 20; Geraldine Powell, age 18; Christine Powell, age 15; and Michael E. Powell, age 1; all born in Oklahoma. They were living with Carrie's father, Robert L. Wilkinson, age 71, born in Tennessee; and her mother, Dora B., age 68, born in Tennessee. Also living in the household were Carrie's brothers, Luke Wilkinson, a building carpenter, age 45; and Edgar Wilkinson, age 47; both born in Texas.

Carrie died March 11, 1976 in Durant, Oklahoma (Bryan County) and was buried there beside her husband.
