----------------------
JOHN J. LAWLER DIES AT THE HOME OF HIS SON, THOS. R. LAWLER
---------------------
At 1 o'clock Sunday morning, the Grim Reaper stole into the home of T. R. lawler, 114 South Oakwood street, and in that moment John J. Lawler passed into the great beyond. He had been sick for but a week although during the past year hea hs been gradually growing more feeble, and while his death was not entorely unexpected, nevertheless it comes as a great shock to the members of his family. The immediate cause of his death was heart failure.

Seventy-eight years ago in the county of Kerry, Ireland, John J. Lawler was born, and 46 years ago he emigrated to America, settling in Olmstsed county, the rich lands of Haverhill attracting his attention, and there he has continued to reside up to five years ago, when he came to Rochester to take up his residence at 114 South Oakwood street. While in this county he wedded Elizabeth Mc Elligott and to them five children were born, they being Mrs. P. H. Cronin of Tyler, Minn., Mrs. S. M. Liddane of St. Paul, Rev. J. J. Lawler, pastor of the cathedral at St. Paul, T. R. Lawler and M. A. Lawler of this city. Besides these he is survived by his sorrowing wife and four sisters and one brother, they being Mrs. M. D. Brennan, Mrs. John Campion, Mrs. Catherine Milvihill, Mrs. Hannah Burns and T.J. Lawler.

John J lawler was one of the oldest and most respected citizens of Olmsted county and Rochester for the past half a century. He belonged to that class of sturdy pioneers, whose brain and brawn have done so much for the developement of the county and prosperity of the community. He was a man of sterling integrity and of strong character, a kind father, a good citizen and an upright Christian gentleman. Not only the members of his family will morn his death, but also a great many in all parts of t he county, for he possessed that wonderful disposition which made every one he met his friend.

THe funeral took place from St. John's church at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday. Solemn requiem mass was celebrated by Rev. J. J. Lawler, assisted by Fathers Riordan, Condron, anf Pernan. The family have the sympathy of the community in their hour of bereavement.
