Arthur John (or John Arthur) Reis was born in October 1892 in Chicago, the fifth of seven children of Joseph A. Reis (1861–1931) and Margaret Muno Reis (ABT 1865 - AFT 1940). He suffered from epilepsy and died at home in Evanston, Illinois, from cardiac disease on October 8, 1908. The funeral was held at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Evanston and he was buried at St. Henry Cemetery in Chicago on October 10, 1908.
