Lewis E. "Lewis" Roberts, 87, Rt. 2, Elizabeth, died Friday evening at his residence in Wirt County following an extended illness.
He was born in Wirt County the son of the late William Bambridge and Urana Belle Lockhart Roberts. He was retired from the oil fields, last employed by WEVA Oil Co. He was a member of the Owl Hill United Methodist Church.
He is survived by three sons, Darrell Keith Roberts, Charles Bruce Roberts and Larry Clifton Roberts, all of Elizabeth; four daughters, Dorothy Belle Via of Parkersburg, Wanda Mae Belt of Elizabeth, Luanna Louise McCray of Brohard, Vesta Ruth Bunner of Vienna; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elva Anna Kidwell Roberts, in 1969; three sons, six brothers, three sisters and three grandchildren.
Services were Monday afternoon at the Matheny-Pomroy Funeral Home Chapel in Elizabeth. Burial was in the Kidwell Cemetery.
