Funeral services will be held for Simon J. Bartos, who passed away Sunday evening Nov. 11, 2012 at Houston Solari Hospice Hospital after a rather brief battle with cancer.

Simon John Bartos was born to John Bartos Jr. and Annie Janik Bartos
on October 28, 1934 in the Bernard Prairie Community near East Bernard, TX. He attended Bernard Prairie School and graduated from East Bernard High School in the Class of 1953.

He worked for a short time as a bookkeeper at Boettcher Hlavinka Co. before being drafted in the US Army. He served at Ft. Bliss, TX and Ft. Sill, Oklahoma. Upon discharge in 1956, he went to work at WKM Mfg, Missouri City for several years. During that time, he also took courses at a business college in Rosenberg and WCJC in Wharton. From 1963 to 1971 he worked at Universal CIT Financial Co.in Rosenberg and Baytown, and back to Rosenberg, where he rose to Branch Mgr. In 1971 he began his employment as a loan officer with First National Bank, Rosenberg and rose to Vice President. In 1996, he became Business Manager at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Rosenberg, until his retirement in 2000. Since then he has enjoyed a couple of part time jobs with Gurecky Mfg. and LCISD, along with several hobbies, spending time with his grandchildren, traveling, volunteer work & serving others with the Knights of Columbus, Holy Rosary Church, etc.

On November 10, 1956, he married Joyce Marie Macha of Hungerford, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in East Bernard. In August, 1957, they moved to Rosenberg, where they have continued to reside, except for a short time in Baytown. He and Joyce have been active as officers in many community organizations and activities here in Rosenberg throughout the years.

He is predeceased by parents, John & Annie Bartos, wife's parents, Joe & Edna Macha, and infant son, Christopher James Bartos.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Joyce; his daughter, Sharon Kristynik and husband, Rick of Rosenberg; his son, Scott Bartos and wife, Susan of New Braunfels; his grandsons, Kyle Kristynik and fiancee Janice Pavlica of Bedford, TX, and Ryan Kristynik of Clear Lake, TX and special friend Nicole Kitchens, and by his granddaughters, Samantha and Sarah Bartos of New Braunfels, TX. He is also survived by a sister, Elizabeth Barta and her husband, Jerome, of Liberty Hill, TX; nephews, Mark Barta
of Houston, and Gary Barta of Round Rock, and by brother-in-law, Ernest Joe Macha of Hungerford as well as many cousins.

Donations in lieu of flowers may be given to "Holy Rosary Church Building Our Future".

Wake services will begin with viewing beginning at 5 p.m., Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Rosenberg and Rosary at 7 p.m.

Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, November 15, 2012 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Rosenberg. Interment will follow at St. John's Cemetery in Hungerford.

The family wishes to express deep appreciation to Charlotte Rheman and
to the wonderful staff at Solari Hospice for the loving care they gave to Dad.
