Born August 13, 1923 in Airpine, Arizona, the son of Joel White and Elsie Vilate Owens Flake. Married Lois Estelle Widdison, November 4, 1948 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She preceded him in death on February 9, 1987. Married Marian Rynearson of Honolulu, Hawaii, October 5, 1987 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He was a graduate of University of Utah with Bachelors and Masters Degree. He was an educator in Davis County Schools for 31 years, retired as Principal of Viewmont High School in 1983. During those years he was actively involved in United Way, Scouting, Rotary and many professional organizations. He served in the LDS Church in many capacities including bishoprics, bishop, stake presidency, church curriculum committees, five full service missions, and at his death was serving as a sealer in the Bountiful Utah Temple.
Survived by his loving wife, Marian; children: Vicki Flake of Centerville, Joel A. Flake of Provo, Lynette (Jay) Watts of Centerville, Connie (Gaylen) Jackson of Centerville, Mark W. (Merlynn) Flake of Kaysville, Diana C. Seymour of Thousand Oaks, CA., Sherry (Dusty) Tingley of Centerville, Nancy (James) Collings of Littleton, CO., 23 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 20, 1998 at 12 noon at the Centerville Stake Center, 950 North Main. Friends may call Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main, and again Friday morning from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the church. Interment-Centerville City Cemetery.
