He began his service to his community during his college years, serving as a Big Brother for many young men in California and Virginia. He tutored children in mathematics, reading and English. He moved to Virginia in 1975, where he continued to serve his community in many ways, including teaching swimming for Fairfax County Parks and Recreation for over 25 years.
Chris was a computer programmer and IT Specialist for the U.S. Government for more than 38 years. He was also an avid genealogist, Find A Grave contributor, and volunteered for ten years at the McLean Family History Center as a genealogy consultant. He was a member of the McLean 1st Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Chris was a lifetime member of Alpha Gamma Sigma Honor Scholarship Society, the United States Chess Federation, Cambridge Who's Who Registry of Executives, Professionals and Entrepreneurs and the International High IQ Society.
Chris was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Gail Lewis, and father, James A. Lewis. He leaves a younger sister, one nephew and one grand nephew and a younger brother, sister-in-law and one niece.
