Mary S. Patton, wife of J.N. Patton, of Oak Ridge, died October 19th, 1902, aged 40 years, 11 months and 9 days. Mrs. Patton, though not connected with any church at the time of her death, was a faithful christian woman, and died in the triumph of a living faith, loved by all who knew her. She leaves a husband and seven children to mourn her loss. It was in her home that her noble traits of character were most prominent. Retiring in disposition, clothed with humility as with a garment, and with tenderest affection towards everyone. Her funeral was conducted by the writer at her home, after which the body was laid to rest in the Highland Center cemetery.
