W. J. Barber Dies; Was MUD Official

W. J. Barber, 59, assistant general manager of the Metropolitan Utilities District, died Monday afternoon at a hospital. He had been ill only a few days.

Mr. Barber was associated with the MUD for 44 years and seven months. He began as an office boy, was assistant general manager more than 20 years.

The Barber home is at 3619 California Street.

Survivors: Wife, Lauretta; sons, Willis T., Cleveland, O., David F. and Richard, Omaha; daughter, Catherine Ann, Omaha; father, George Barber, Reno, Nev.; sister, Mrs. John Gibb, Omaha, and Mrs. Edith Tolson, Pasadena, Cal.

Services Thursday for W. J. Barber

Services for Willis J. Barber, 59, who died Monday, will be held Thursday at 8:30 a.m. from Heafey & Heafey Mortuary to St. Cecilia's Cathedral at 9. Burial will be at Holy Sepulchre. The rosary will be said Wednesday at 8 p.m. at the mortuary. Third and fourth degree Knights of Columbus are requested to attend.

Members of the Veterans Club and Metropolitan Utilities District employes are asked to go to the mortuary Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.

Mr. Barber was assistant general manager of the Metropolitan Utilities District, and a member of Knights of Columbus, Elks, and the Chamber of Commerce. He had been ill only a few days.

The Barber home is at 3619 California Street.

Barber Rites Tomorrow

Pallbearers for W. J. Barber, 59, who died Monday, are: Active, Gene Eppley, John C. Detweiler, Walter Byrne, Joe Walsh, Gene O'Sullivan and S. C. Miller; honorary, Hal Gildersleeve, Burt Murphy, Robert Updike, Joe Saunders, J. E. Davidson, Leo Bozell, Tom Coll, Solon Burkhardt, Harry Haggerty, Fred Rueth, Paul Hamilton, J. A. C. Kennedy, Frank McCafferty and W. E. Tabor.

Mr. Barber was a member of the board of trustees of Holy Sepulchre Cemetery and Catholic Charities. He was assistant general manager of Metropolitan Utilities District.

Services will be held Thursday at 8:30 a.m., Heafey & Heafey's Farnam street Home to St. Cecilia's Church at 9; burial, Holy Sepulchre.
