MULLINS - Mrs. Patricia May Birkbeck, 89, widow of the late Mr. Alan Birkbeck passed away peacefully with her family at her side on the morning of January 6, 2022, at McLeod Hospice House in Florence after an extended illness.
Mrs. Birkbeck was born on January 11, 1932, in Guernsey on the Channel Islands off the coast of Normandy. She was a daughter of the late James Connolly and Alice Marriette Connolly, and later an adoptive daughter to the late Stanley and Dorothy Moore.
Mrs. Birkbeck was homemaker, making sure everything was taken care of on the home front. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Mrs. Birkbeck had a competitive sportsman side to her, she loved to play golf and loved archery. She was a crowned champion archer. Mrs. Birkbeck was also member of the Sweet Adelines and the Mullins Playmakers. She was of the Methodist faith.
Mrs. Birkbeck is survived by five children, Nigel Birkbeck (Paula) of Broomfield, CO, David Birkbeck of Fairview, OR, Steve Birkbeck (Shirley) of Hanahan, SC, Martin Birkbeck (Helen) of Bridlington, England and Jayne Hesse (Ken) of Florence; 8 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren.
Mrs. Birkbeck was predeceased by a sister, Jean McGee.
A memorial service for Mrs. Birkbeck will be held Saturday, January 15 at 2:00 p.m. in the Funeral Chapel of Cox-Collins Funeral Home. Inurnment will follow the proceedings in the mausoleum at Red Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
