Lillian Ruth Strother Jackson went to be with her Lord on November 11, 2010, two days away from the fifth anniversary of the death of her husband, Carl. Ruth was born in Ansley, LA on August 1, 1914. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She had an humble spirit and devoted her life to serving her family and friends.
The biblical definition of a virtuous woman found in Proverbs 31:10-31 was lived out in Ruth's life. Until her failing health precluded her from attendance, she was active as a sixty plus year church member at First Baptist Church in West Monroe. Her last major church service role was as a volunteer in the church library dealing with books, her passion.
She is preceded in death by her son, Mike Jackson and her husband, Carl Jackson.
Survivors include her sister, Beryl Lord of West Monroe; son, Richard (Linda) of Columbus, MS; grandson, Matt (Brooke) of Chelsea, AL; granddaughter, Melinda (Joel) of Caledonia, MS; and great grandson, Jackson Wallace of Caledonia, MS; great-granddaughters, Lilly and Claire Jackson of Chelsea, AL; and nephews, Mark Grubbs of Monroe, Ed and Jack Strother of Seattle/Tacoma, WA.
Funeral Services will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, November 13, 2010 at the Hasley Memorial Pavilion in West Monroe.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, a long time beneficiary of Ruth and her husband, Carl.
