MATTINGLY, DAVID H. -- Age 62, died Friday, February 7, 1992, at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at the Brown Funeral Home, 2 p.m. Monday, February 10, 1992, Rev. Bert Clark officiating. Burial in Sunset Hills Cemetery. Mr. Mattingly was born at Fort Benning, Georgia, June 9, 1929. He came to Flint in 1987, he was united in marriage June 13, 1987 to Doris Tilden. Mr. Mattingly was a pilot with the U. S. Air Force, retiring in 1971 with 25 years of service. He then spent 17 years as a Civilian Weapons System Liaison Officer for the U. S. Air Force. A very special source of pride was his involment in the F-15 Fighter Program at various bases around the world. Surviving are: Wife, Doris; children, Kathy Gundry of Flint, Alan Tilden of Davison, Cheryl Smeja of Flint, Sandra and Gary Ezell of Swartz Creek; 9 grandchildren; 1 great-grandson; mother (s/b mother-in-law), Hazel Benway; 2 brothers, Eugene Mattingly of Kansas, Richard Mattingly of Pennsylvania; 2 sisters, Mary Ann Hitchcock (s/b Hancock) of Texas and Mildred (Mrs. Frank) Heath of Florida; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by: his infant daughter, Pamela Lee.
