Found in The State 09 November 1918: Mrs. Etta S. Melton, wife of S. Frank Melton, a carpenter, of 2410 Park Street, died at the Columbia Hospital last night at 9 o'clock, after a long illness. Mrs. Melton became a patient at the hospital October 1 and had grown gradually worse until the end came last night. She leaves besides her husband, one daughter, Miss Valarie Addison, one sister. Mrs. J. W. Moody, her mother, Mrs. John H. Drennan, and one brother, Harry H. Drennan, all of Columbia. Funeral arrangements had not been completed last night.

Per her death certificate found on Ancestry.com in the name Mrs. F. F. Melton: she was a daughter of Jno Drennan and Sallie McGowan, both born in S. C. She was married at the time of her death. She died at 2410 Park St. of pellagra contributed by asthma. The informant was F. F. Melton of Cola, S. C.

She can be found on the 1900 US Census for Williston, Barnwell, S. C. at age 33 living with Susan Broadwater, 59, Wm. M. Addison, 34, Blanche V. Addison, 12 and Lizzie E. Hailey, 11. She was born in S. C.

Note: she is buried in the McCoy family plot.
