Mr. Flake was a retired farmer and had been a lifelong resident of Lexington County. He was a member of the Ebenezer Methodist Church.
He is survived by his widow Mrs. Kizzie Blackwell Flake; four daughters, Mrs. Martha Light, Pelion, Mrs. Mary Moorer of Dixiana, Mrs. Rowella Schumpert and Mrs. Bessie Harsey of Gaston; six sons, Eddie Flake and Festus Flake, both of Pelion, Millard Flake of College Place, J. C. Flake, Jr. of Leesville, Edward J. Flake of Fostoria, Ohio and Harvey Flake of Gaston; one sister, Mrs. Julia Jeffcoat of Perry; one brother, Edward J. Flake of Salley and 28 grandchildren.
