His was the son of Columbus Frederick "Lum" and Martha Ann (Hampton) Cossey and married Hettie Ledbetter - 14 Sep 1901 - Etowah Co., Alabama. His obituary follows:
Columbus Franklin Cossey, 81, 310 Cleveland Avenue, Attalla, died at 9:40 last night at his residence after a long illness.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Brown's Chapel, Flintville, Tennessee. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Surviving are four sons, Z. W. Cossey, Attalla, Harvey Cossey, Belvidere, Tennessee, Noah Cossey, Chicago, Illinois, and W. C. Cossey, Hemet, California; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Cossey was a Baptist and a retired farmer.
