Ralph Paul Theodore Teetzen Sr., 83, died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2006. He was born May 31, 1923, in Tampa, to Herman and Bertha Stegeman Teetzen. On Nov. 14, 1945, he married Delores Sweeney, with whom he had four children. He married Ruth Parks on Dec. 23, 1972. She died Oct. 16, 1988. He also was preceded in death by an infant son, Allen Dale; his parents; five brothers; and five sisters.
Mr. Teetzen had been a resident of the Nevada State Veterans Home in Boulder City, Nev. Throughout his life, he had lived in various places in Kansas including Tampa, Dodge City, Garden City, Pratt and Coats, and in Grand Rapids, Mich.
He was a sergeant with the Kansas Highway Patrol for 20 years, worked locally at Eatherly Contractors, was a security guard for casinos in Las Vegas and held numerous other jobs.
A World War II veteran, he had earned two Oak Leaf Clusters and five Bronze Stars.
While living in Garden City, he was a member of First Baptist Church. One of his favorite Bible verses was John 3:17. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and collecting old cars.
Survivors include his first wife; a stepdaughter; a daughter; two sons; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
