Dr. Thomas W Moffatt
Mass of Christian burial for Dr. Thomas W Moffatt, noted Denver physician and dermatologist was Tuesday in St. Bernadette Catholic Church. Private committal services followed.
Dr. Moffatt, who lived at 7000 Highland Drive, Lakewood, died Friday of a heart attack in his office. He was 62. Born Jan 17, 1915 in Dubuque, Iowa, he attended Loras College there and was graduated from the University of Iowa Medical School. He interned at St Joseph Hospital in Denver and received a fellowship in dermatology at Barnes Skin and Cancer Institute, Washington University at St Louis, Mo. He received a master of science degree from the University of Colorado.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Active in the practice of dermatology in Denver for more than 20 years, he co-developed the Moffatt-Barnes test, which later became known as the L E Prep. He served as an assistant clinical professor of dermatology at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. Dr. Moffatt was active in the Colorado Medical Society, the Denver Medical Society and the Denver Catholic Physicians Guild. He was a member of St. Bernadette's Catholic Church. He was married to Marie Scartezina of San Antonio on Dec 16, 1941.
Surviving, in addition to his widow, are a daughter, Miss Shauna Marie Moffatt of San Diego; three sons, Dr. Thomas W Moffatt, Jr. of Denver, Robert W Moffatt and James L, Moffat, both of Lakewood; four sisters, Mrs Lenore Anthony of Dubuque, Mrs Ruth Spensley of Denver, Mrs Grace Worley of Dayton, Ohio, and Mrs Betty Cummins, of Bisbee, Ariz., and four grandchildren.
Contributions may be made to the St Joseph Hospital Educational Fund, 1801 Williams St.

First born of Robert Andrew Moffatt. At 17 he managed his father's business for several weeks while his father took Tom's 4 sisters on the Great Lakes, visiting the hometown, Orillia, Ontario, Canada.
Resident in Dermatology Bernard Skin & Cancer Hospital, Fellow in Dermatology Washington University 1947-1950. Degree Master of Science Colorado University. Entered practice in dermatology in 1950.
