Mary married Solomon Rumbaugh Barnhart in 1850 in Queenstown, Armstrong Co., Penn. They were the parents of six children: T. Foster (1854), Samuel (1856), William (1858), John Gardner "Gard" (1860), Ida (1862), and Laura Isabell (May 2, 1866). They moved to Bassett in 1885 and recorded their homestead in 1890 which was located three miles north and one mile west of Bassett. Solomon went looking for more adventure in Oregon leaving the family here. He died in Portland, Oregon on Aug 21, 1896, and is buried there in Civil War Vets cemetery. He was a Civil War Vet serving from 1861-1865. NOTE: Mary's tombstone just says "Barnhart and Mother"--no name or dates. She is buried next to her daughter Laura Isabell (Barnhart) and son-in-law Edward Frank Dennis.
