Mrs. Garland was a daughter of Baltzer and Elizabeth (Hollenshead) Mellott and was born in Belfast Twp., this county on August 17, 1862, hence was aged 80 years, 2 months and 19 days. She was united in marriage to George Nebraska Garland who preceded her to the Great Beyond on July 8, 1930.
She is survived by the following children: Russell S., of Philadelphia, Pa.; Ernest W., at home (Chicago); Jessie, wife of Edward Burhann, of Pittsburgh, Pa.; Blanche, wife of Bryan Belcher of Chicago, Illinois; Estelle, wife of George McIntosh, of Hollywood, Illinois; George, Jr., in the U.S. Navy. Two daughters Hazel and Madge are deceased, also one son Francis, who lost his life in France on September 18, 1918, in World War I. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and the following sisters and brother, Mrs. Susie Truax and Mrs. Eliza Mellott of Sipes Mill, Pa.; Mrs. Lydia Bard of Knobsville, Pa.; James Mellott of Bellvue, Ohio; one brother Michael W. Mellott passed away December 6, 1942.
Her body was laid to rest November 11, 1942 in Woodlawn Cemetery, Chicago, beside her husband.
