DEATH CLAIMS MRS. LIZZIE COMER GUILMARTIN, 79

Mrs. Lizzie Comer Guilmartin, 79, of Midway, died at her home last Wednesday.

Mrs. Gilmartin finished high school in Midway and received her degree from Lucy Cobb College, and she was valedictorian of her class. She was active in the DAR, the Colonial Dames, and the UDC. She was active in club and Church work in Midway up until the time of her death. A Baptist, she taught a Sunday school class for 20 years which her mother before her had taught.

She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Fletcher Comer. Her father's people moved to Midway from Springhill in Barbour County. She was a niece of the late Governor Braxton Bragg Comer on her father's side. Her mother was the former Elizabeth Thornton of Union Springs.

She is survived by one son, John Francis Guilmartin, San Antonio, Texas.

Funeral services were held last Friday at 10 AM from the Midway Baptist Church with the Rev. Acker officiating. Burial was in the Midway Cemetery with Jackson Funeral Home of Eufaula directing.
