Suggested edit: Robert Smith immigrated from England in 1891, and was naturalized.
He married Jane Harrison about 1894, she had immigrated in 1892.

In 1908, they were living at 3028 N American St, Philadelphia, when they lost infant Rose at 2 days of age.

Robert worked as a Foreman at a Lace Mill in Philadelphia in 1910, and followed the lace trade to Rhode Island, then Somerset New Jersey, before retiring to Brea, California.

The family lived at 2865 Howard St, Philadelphia at the time of the 1910 US Census, reporting that children Mabel, 15, Florence, 11, and Harry, 7, were all born in England, immigrating in 1904, while Elsie, 13, and Dorothy, 3, had been born in Pennsylvania. This suggests that someone in the family possibly traveled back to England?

The family were in Alton, Rhode Island in Nov 1912, where son Elmer was born.

They then moved to 27 Third St, Somerville, New Jersey by 1920 to follow the lace trade.

By 1930, they had moved to 267 South Pomona Ave, Brea, Orange County, California.

Robert and Jane Smith were parents of:
Mabel Emmeline (Smith) Fuller Gesterling (12 Feb 1895-1 Feb 1984) (the second Mrs. Edward Gesterling),
Elsie (abt 1897-?),
Florence (Smith) Gesterling (1899-9 May 1930)(the first Mrs. Edward Gesterling),
Henry "Harry" William Smith (2 Jan 1903-12 Feb 1979),
Dorothy (Smith) Burge (24 Oct 1906-27 Dec 1996)
Rose Smith (27 Dec 1908-29 Dec 1908), and
Elmer Harrison Smith (5 Nov 1912-27 Sept 1990)
