Perthena Gregory was born in 1843 in Farmington, Warren County, PA, the daughter of Ezra Gregory and Angeline Wilcox. She married Daniel Houghwot Nov 17, 1861 and had five children: La Vern, Barnum, Angeline, John and Daniel. Her husband passed away in 1896. In the 1900 census Perthena is shown as widowed, head of the household, living with her son, John. In the 1910 census, John, who is single, is declared the head of the household and Perthena is still living with him. Perthena died in 1925 survived by her son, John, who died in 1940. John, a carpenter, never married, and his death certificate was informed by his sister-in-law, Martha Cole, who outlived him by twenty years.
