Boonsboro – Edwin Summer Hoffman, 87, a resident of the Fahrney-Keedy Memorial Home Cottage, was killed on Rt. 15 in Wallerboro, S.C. on Tuesday. He was crossing the highway to a restaurant when he was struck by an oncoming car.

He was born at Port Trevertone, Pa., the son of Jacob F. and Martha A. Whitmer Hoffman.

He was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Wilkensburg, Pa. He was a 50-year member of Hope Lodge No. 20, A.F. & A.M. and the Order of Eastern Star, both of Washington. He was a retired electrical and mechanical engineer, having served with the Naval Department in Washington.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Mary A. Pry Hoffman.

Services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Bast Funeral Home in Boonsboro with the Rev. Howard L. Kancher officiating. Burial will be in the Mountain View Cemetery, Sharpsburg. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at the funeral home.
