Mrs. Achtemichuk died Wednesday, May 13, 1998. She was 83.
Born Oct. 5, 1914, to John and Willemina VanDyke Reinstra in Oak Harbor, she graduated from Oak Harbor High School.
She attended beauty school in Seattle and worked for 10 years as a telephone operator supervisor in Oak Harbor. She also was matron for Skagit County Courthouse and Juvenile Detention.
Mrs. Achtemichuk enjoyed travelling to Arizona for winter and spending time in her garden. She attended Jehovah's Witnesses North Congregation Kingdom Hall.
Survivors include daughter Marilyn Young of Lynden; son John Leemon of Bellingham; sisters Tereasa Bellows of Moses Lake, Viola Ammundson of Oak Harbor and Louise Selman of Langley; five grandchildren; and many other relatives.
Her first husband, Leonard Leemon, died in 1974 and her second husband, Michael Achtemichuk, died in 1997.
