He was born in Corrine, West Virginia. He had lived in Palatka for 19 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, retired after 26 years of service. He had served during World War II, the Korean Conflict and Vietnam. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3349, Disabled American Veterans 56, and American Legion, all of Palatka. He was also a Mason and a member of the F&AM Lodge 919 in Radcliff, Ky.
He was preceded in death by his son, terry Lee Thomas.
He is survived by his wife, Gerri Thomas; two sons, Roy F. Thomas II of Palatka, Michael D. Thomas of San Mateo; daughter, Fannie E. Thomas Wilkinson of Florahome; two sisters, Hattie Goode and Betty Jean Schulz, both of Florahome; and six grandchildren.
