Ernestine "Tini" Barncastle-Bashner, 92, lifelong resident of the Mesilla
Valley, entered into eternal life on Thursday, Feb. 5, 2009, at home surrounded
by her family. She was born April 21, 1916, in Las Cruces to Antonio and Inez
Alvarez Barncastle. She was part of the Catholic community and was a retired
credit manager with J.C. Penney after many years of faithful service. Ernestine will be deeply missed by all her family and many friends who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her children, Henry "Pingo" Diaz, and wife, Connie, of Las Cruces, Rudy Diaz and wife, Becky, of Albuquerque, N.M., Fred "Squeeky" Bashner and wife, Lorraine, of Tucson, Ariz., Rosella Prieto and husband, Nahum, of El Paso, Texas, Stella Torres and husband, Angel Jr., of Las Cruces and Pat Rogers and husband, Fred, of Los Lunas, N.M. Also surviving her are her 14 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents in 1958, her two grandsons, brothers and sisters.
A visitation will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 9, 2009, at Getz Funeral Home, where a prayer vigil will follow at 7 p.m. A funeral Mass to celebrate her life will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2009, at St. Genevieve's Catholic church, with Father Juan Moreno officiating. Rite of committal is at San Jose Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be members Ernestine's family.
