The Rev. Oather Lee Allen, 67, Magnolia Highway, died early Friday morning in a local hospital after a lengthy illness.

Born Jan. 10, 1907, at Corpus Christi, Tex., he was the son of William Oather and Minnie Lee Evans Allen. He had liven in Union County since childhood, moving to El Dorado from the Wesson community. He was an ordained minister in the Assembly of God Church from more than 30 years and during the past two years was the pastor at the Union Hill Assembly of God Church.

For more than 20 years he had been a member of Carpenters Local 1683 and worked as a building contractor in the El Dorado area.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Marie Greer Allen of El Dorado; three sons, James O. Allen of Texarkana, Thomas A. Allen of El Dorado, and Other L. Allen of Luling, La.; his mother of Wesson; three brothers, John B. Allen of Wesson, Preston A. Allen of Springdale, and the Rev. James E. Allen of Bastrop, La.; a sister, Mrs. Carrie Belle Janway of El Dorado; eight grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Assembly of God Church with the Rev. W. H. Richardson and Rev. Haskell Grant officiating. Burial will be at the Wesson Cemetery by Young's.

The body will remain at the mortuary until one hour before time for the service.

Active pallbearers will be the following nephews: Cecil Janway, Ray Janway, Donald Allen, Ronald Greer, Gary Greer, and Philip Greer. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Men's Bible Class of the Union Hill Assembly of God Church.
