Jesse Henson(1914 - 2010)

Jesse Hampton Henson, 85, of 607 Pendleton Street, passed away Thursday, July 8, 2010, at Baptist Hospital Easley.

Born in Six Mile, a son of the late Otha and Kidder Henson, Mr. Henson retired from the Easley Plant of Woodside Mills and was a member of Geer Memorial Baptist Church.

He loved football and baseball and excelled in both and was inducted into the Easley High School Athletic Hall of Fame. Mr. Henson also played baseball in the Textile League and in the National Minor League. He was a veteran of World War II having served with the US Navy from 1943
to 1946.

Surviving are his wife of sixty-two years, Dot Ellenburg Henson of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Hope and Robert Watson of Easley and Jan and Rickey Lewis of Pickens; four grandsons (that "Pa" was so proud of) and their wives, Brian and Wendy Watson of Piedmont, Stacy and Jennifer Lewis of Pickens, Shane and Jennifer Lewis of Travelers Rest, and Brad and Jennifer Watson of Williamston; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Margie Griffith and husband, Vernon, of Camden, and a sister-in-law, Latrilla Henson of Easley.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Henson was predeceased by a brother and nine sisters.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown with Rev. Phil McAlister officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, prior to the service.

Memorials may be made to Geer Memorial Baptist Church, 911 South Fifth Street, Easley, SC 29640.
Family members are at their respective homes.
