Born in Brooklyn, he graduated high school in that borough, and moved to Tottenville in the early 1980s. He bought his family home in 1983, then after he and several members of his family did years of renovation work, he moved there in 1987.
After graduating high school, George started working as a plumber, first with his father, also named George, and then on his own later on, after his father died in 1994.
He did volunteer work at his parish Our Lady Help of Christians Roman Catholic Church in Tottenville.
George loved going to Atlantic City and was a devoted Elvis Presley fan. The family had been planning a trip to Graceland before the storm hit.
When neighbors on his block needed help from someone handy, they turned to him. He was always available to help a neighbor. If you needed a tool, or you needed something fixed quick, you called George. He never asked for a dime.
Beloved husband of 29 years to Patricia (nee Spero) Dresch. Devoted father of Jo Ann Moyer and the late Angela Rose Dresch. Treasured brother-in-law of Gerard Spero. Loving uncle of several nieces and nephews.
