Donald Charles Cannata Sr., 84, of Pasadena, MD, suddenly died on Tuesday, October 30, 2012. Hurricane Sandy blew a 20 ton oak tree through the roof and fatally crushed him as he stood by his kitchen sink.

He recently received La Boheme opera tickets to Baltimore from online as a birthday gift. He would have annual Christmas Eve chess matches. Donald and his whole family would gather for the holidays. On Christmas Eve, they'd spend the day cooking, then share spaghetti, smelts and the Italian olives he always craved.

He was born in Pennsylvania on Thursday, October 6, 1938 and died at his residence on Monday, October 29, 2012. He was a Pasadena resident for 38 years who was a self-employed civil engineer for 29 years. He enjoyed the Opera and Photography.

Devoted father of Donna L. McNamara and her husband Thomas of Severna Park, Donald Charles Cannata Jr. of Pasadena and Debra E. Washburn and her husband Doug of Glen Burnie. Dear brother of Frances Keith of Severna Park. Loving grandfather of Allison, Thomas and Emma McNamara, all of Severna Park and Shannon Washburn of Glen Burnie.

Visitation was offered on Sunday, November 4, 2012 from 7-9 PM at the McCully-Polyniak Funeral Home, 3204 Mountain Road, Pasadena, MD 21122. A funeral service was officiated in the funeral home on Monday, November 5, 2012 at 12:30 PM. Interment followed at Crownsville Veterans Cemetery.
