Samuel Aloysius Hardesty Jr., a native of Baltimore, Maryland, and a resident of Hartfield, Va., was born February 11, 1937 and departed this life November 24, 2005. He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Aloysius Hardesty Sr. and Dorothy Ann Hardesty; his brother, Leonard Joseph Charles Hardesty and his wife, Barbara Hardesty.

He is survived by his children, Samuel Aloysius Hardesty III and his wife, Heather, Kathryn Hardesty Martin, Maggie L. Stewart and her husband, Hilton Phillips, all of Richmond, Va.; grandchildren, Brandon Travis Martin, Samantha Lynn Hardesty, Amanda Lynn Hardesty, Monica Anne Hardesty, Augusta Isabella Hardesty and Willoughby Reva Hardesty.

Mr. Hardesty attended Loyola University, was a member of the Army Reserve, owner of Colonial Foods, Inc., McPatty's Restaurant, Riverside Food Service and former president of Parents Without Partners.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Church of the Visitation Catholic Church, Hartfield. Interment in church cemetery. Friends may call 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Currie Funeral Home, Kilmarnock, Va.PHOTOEdition: City
