LA MARQUE - Alec James Huffman, 81, of La Marque, passed away Wednesday October 4, 2000, in Houston, Texas. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Thursday October 5, 2000, and a Vigil Service will be at 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m.Friday October 6, 2000, in the Chapel of the James Crowder Funeral Home in La Marque, with Msgr. T.Joseph Culver, officiating. Interment will follow at Mt.Olivet Catholic Cemetery in Dickinson, Texas.. Mr. Huffman was born September 18, 1919, in Itasca, Texas, the son of O.D. Huffman and Agnes Moore Huffman. Alec was a graduate of Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, where he received a football scholarship. Mr. Huffman was retired Vocational Air Condition Instructor at Alvin Jr. College. He was a long time resident of La Marque, a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church in LaMarque. He was a veteran of the United States Coast Guard, during World War II. He was a member of various organizations, La Marque VFW, Two Left Feet Dance Club, past president of Bay Area Chapter of Refrigeration Association, a past election judge for Pet. 33 in La Marque, former member of Galveston County Drainage Commissioner No.2 and Kiwanis Club in Alvin.
Mr Huffman is survived by his loving wife, Helen E.Huffman of La Marque; three sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Maureen Huffman of Radnor, Pennsylvania, Steve and Katy Huffman of Friendswood, Royce and Debbie Huffman of Missouri City, Texas; grandchildren, Jay, Laura and Daniel Raps, children of Kenneth, Amanda, Emily, Abby and Audrey, children of Steve, Royce, Scott and Chad, children of Royce; he is also survived by three sisters, Vada, Doris and Helen; and two brothers. Ralph and Roland.
