Marriages and Deaths from the American Volunteer (Carlisle, PA) Newspaper 1839-1948: April 28, 1842 issue...

Married on the 7th inst., by the Rev R McCachran, Mr. George Blankney of Greenvillage, Franklin Co., to Miss Margaret Duey of Newville, Cumberland Co, PA.

Carlisle Weekly Herald (Carlisle, PA), Wednesday, August 29, 1888; pg. 4

In Memoriam (sic).

Mrs. Margaret Blankney, widow of the late George Blankney, of this city died on last Friday, the 24th inst., at the residence of her son-in-law Thomas March, of West Fourth street (sic), at the ripe age of 86 years and 8 months. This now sainted "Mother in Israel" was really a remarkable woman, retaining as she did in her memory, events of three-fourths of a century ago. Uniting with the Presbyterian Church, as it was, in her twelfth year, she was imbued with its doctrines purely Calvanistic, and, withal its departures from the ancient landmarks of faith culture. She strongly adhered to its original doctrinal teachings, continuing steadfast in the faith. She was a Christian lady of social, winning qualities, constant in her love for acquaintances and friends, to whom she was tenderly attached. An earthly pilgrim, she at last found, what she so faithfully and zealously labored for - perpetual rest with Him who "giveth His beloved sleep."

Her funeral took place yesterday; a beautiful, cloudless and quiet Sabbath afternoon, largely attended, for none knew the deceased but to love her. Rev. Adolas Allen, of the Third Presbyterian Church, conducted the touching, pathetic services. Interment at Wildwood Cemetery. Side by side is laid all that is mortal of husband and wife, the latter longing to meet the former, where parting is unknown, where sickness and sorrow are felt and feared no more.

The deceased and husband, many years ago, resided at Newville, Cumberland county (sic), and removed to this city about twenty-five years ago. She was the beloved sister of the late Jacob Duey, of Carlisle, he in life residing at the northeast corner of Louther and West street, and may yet have surviving relatives in the town or county, for whose information this obituary notice is given.
