Dies at 65

Benjamin Franklin Bland, 65, died about 4:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon at his home, 303 Lily street.
Mr. Bland was the son of Allen and Louisa (Reynolds) Bland and was born Sept. 6, 1895. at Chillicothe. He spent his lifetime in Chillicothe except for a period of service in World War I.
He attended local schools and was a graduate of the former Garrison High School. Dec. 28, 1921, he married Clemetine Banks. He had not been well for several years but continued to work until he retired last September. He was at the Industrial Equipment Company at that time.
Mr. Bland was a member of the board of the Bethel A.M.E. church, was adjutant of the American Legion post No. 160, vice-president of the N.A.A.C.P., was a veteran of World War I.
He leaves his wife of the home; a daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth A. Reed, Detroit, Mich. a sister, Mrs. Ruth Anderson, Chillocothe; two nephews, Charles Crain, Chillocothe, and Earl Crain, Kansas City, and a niece, Mrs. Ruth Nelson, Omaha. Albert Crain is a brother-in-law.
Funeral services will be at 3 o'clock Tuesday afternoon from the Bethel A.M.E. church. Burial will in the North cemetery. The body will be in state at the Keeny-Lindley Funeral Home until noon Tuesday.
Mr. Bland was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and six sisters.
