Doyle Bruce Sims, 70, died in Dallas on Friday, November 2, 2012. He was born to Frances Kinnibrugh Sims and Doyle Sims on October 12, 1942.

At a young age, Bruce enjoyed going to his grandparents' ranch in Knox County along with his brother Paul. Those were fun times and his memory of those times were very vivid in his mind.

He attended schools in San Antonio. He was always assured that Paul would be there as his protector and best friend.

Bruce faced many physical and mental challenges in his lifetime but always remained a gentleman with proper manners.

He loved his family and always enjoyed each of them. Of course, the kids were his favorites because he remained a kid at heart.

Bruce is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, step-father, his brother Paul Sims, and sister-in-law, Sharron Witt.

Bruce is survived by his brother Leighton Witt, Abilene, sister Janis Witt, San Antonio, sister-in-law Darleene Sims, Abilene, nieces Shelley and John Hamilton and children Blake, Evan and Macy, Mansfield, TX, Pam Witt, Antelope, CA, Tammy Chapman and her daughter Kadence, Abilene, TX.

Viewing will be at Elmwood Funeral Home in Abilene on Sunday, Nov. 4th from 12-4 pm. Graveside services will be conducted by Rev. Clyde Kieschnick of Zion Lutheran Church at 11 am on Monday, Nov. 5th at Elmwood Cemetery.

A special thank you for the many thoughts and prayers offered on his behalf.
